La quatrième plongée à lieu à Mbuzi islands. C’est un petit groupe d’îlots à Likoma situé au sud ouest de la baie où stationne le ferry Ilala.

C’est sur notre chemin du retour en revenant de Etc Reef.
Le bateau s’arrête aux abords de quelques cailloux affleurant.

Sur cette carte google, il me semble que ce sont les quelques rochers en direction du sud à environ 80m du plus gros îlot.

Sous l’eau ce sont d’immenses blocs rocheux. Cela ressemble vraiment à l’idée que je m’étais faite d’une immersion dans le lac Malawi. La diversité des espèces rencontrées est moins varié. L’espace est occupé par des gros Maylandia zebra se disputant les territoires.

Certaines démonstrations de force sont plus impressionnantes que d’autres.

Certaines confrontations sont inhabituelles comme entre ce Cynotilapia zebroides et Maylandia zebra.

Certains mâles Maylandia zebra sont moins importunés.

Comme à Mbamba Islands j’observe un poisson que je ne connais pas. Il est ici présent en plus grand nombre (où peut être a-t-il capté mon attention). Il s’agit de Tropheops “Membe”.

Certains spécimens sont vraiment quelconques.

D’autres, au contraire, sont très jolis.

Des tout petits poissons jaune orangé attirent mon regard.
Probablement des jeunes Pseudotropheus interruptus.

Démasquée, cette femelle Tropheops “Red Cheek” s’échappe à toute vitesse.

La profondeur maxi atteinte est encore aux alentours de 12m. La respiration avec le narguilé est déjà difficile. Il faut pomper et ce n’est pas très agréable. On mesure alors le confort que procure du matériel moderne comme l’Aqualung Legend qui m’accompagne habituellement…

A mon retour, Flep est déjà sur le bateau. Un morceau de son détendeur est tombé à l’eau.
A Likoma il est un peu plus compliqué d’obtenir des pièces détachées… Le plus simple est de le retrouver.
Un des équipiers se met à l’eau, fouille un moment et remonte avec la pièce. Un morceau noir perdu au milieu d’innombrables rochers. Incroyable.
